The beautiful town of Guatapé is located less than 2 hours on a direct bus from Medellín via a safe and well-maintained highway.  Our hostel is located just 10 minutes walking from the famous Guatapé malecón, a waterfront promenade with lots of arts and crafts, food vendors, bars, restaurants, and amusements.  However, our quiet and spacious property with amazing views and private lake access feels like it is miles away from civilization and offers our guests the chance to relax, enjoy the fresh air, and feel completely detached from the stress of city life.

Getting Here:

From Medellín to Guatapé:  Buses from Medellín leave from the Terminal del Norte (directly connected to the Caribe Metro Station), passing through the town of El Peñol and the road to La Piedra (The Rock) on the way to Guatapé. Two companies provide service: Sotrasanvicente, (4) 861-0595, and Sotrapeñol, (4) 851-5912.  Each company provides service approximately every hour starting at 5am until approximately 6pm (later on weekends and holidays).  The average fare is 12,000 Pesos (negotiable).  Many buses continue to San Rafael.  Return buses to Medellín fill up quickly on weekends – buy your ticket in advance.

Note: If you are coming by bus from anywhere along the highway from Bogotá, ask to be dropped at the first highway turnoff to Marinilla and you can catch a Guatapé-bound bus there, saving about an hour travel time each way.

From Guatapé to the Hostel:  We are located just 10-15 minutes walking from the central plaza and bus terminal along the road to the Monastery and the "Quebrada Arriba" neighborhood.  Follow the map above and look for our welcome signs on the right.  Or take a mototaxi from the Parque Central (about 3000 pesos).  PLEASE NOTE:  The hostel reception is located in the main house down the car driveway from where you enter the property, NOT in the restaurant next to the main entrance.

Note:  Many buses from Medellín pass through the center of Guatapé and continue to San Rafael, crossing the bridge at the end of the malecón.  Ask your driver to be dropped off right before the bridge to avoid part of the walk from the Parque Central.

Parking:  We have secure on-site car parking available for 5000 Pesos/noche on Weekdays and 10,000 Pesos/noche on Weekends and Holidays.  As spaces are very limited, please reserve in advance.  Free motorcycle parking is also available.
